One of the more popular dog food brands, Blue Wilderness, has issued a voluntary recall after a mistake in their ingredients was discovered. The announcement comes after many other consumer products have also been recalled in past months.

According to the FDA, Blue Buffalo Company has voluntarily recalled one production lot of BLUE Wilderness® Rocky Mountain RecipeTM Red Meat Dinner Wet Food for Adult Dogs, as the product has the potential to contain elevated levels of naturally- occurring beef thyroid hormones. While the recall was officially announced in late March, some consumers could still have this product. Be sure to check your labels if you have any older cans.

For dogs who may be eating this product, they may be experiencing some negative health effects. According to the report, dogs can experience increased thirst and urination, weight loss, increased heart rate and restlessness. The good news is that if your dog stops eating it immediately then the symptoms should go away on their own.

For dogs who keep eating this food over a long period of time, the results could be different. According to experts, prolonged consumption could lead to an increase in severity and may include vomiting, diarrhea, and rapid or difficulty breathing.
