On Friday, doctors released more detailed information about the critical medical state of Congressman Scalise. Rep. Scalise was shot in the hip while practicing for the annual Congressional Baseball Game.

While the shooter in the attack has died, doctors and medical personnel are doing their best to make sure Congressman Scalise makes a recovery. They have announced that he is still in critical condition and will require more surgeries before leaving the hospital.

“We have controlled his internal bleeding and his vital signs have stabilized. He will require additional surgeries to manage abdominal injuries and bone injuries,” Dr. Jack Sava told reporters.

According to a report, Scalise’s injury is a “trans-pelvic gunshot wound,” where the bullet entered his body near his left hip and traveled toward his right hip, causing “substantial damage to bones, organs and blood vessels.”

President Trump recently spoke out about the attack. He encouraged people to continue praying for Rep. Steve Scales in a post he wrote on Twitter.

“Just left hospital. Rep. Steve Scalise, one of the truly great people, is in very tough shape - but he is a real fighter. Pray for Steve!”

Please continue to pray for all of our elected officials as well as offer up prayers for God’s healing touch on Rep. Steve Scalise. Many credit his very presence for saving countless other lives. Had Scalise not been in attendance at the game, the Capitol Police assigned to protect him would have also not been there to respond to the shooter.
