Texas Church Massacre: Death Toll Rises, 1 Victim Identified

On Sunday, November 5th, a shooting took place at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. What was meant to be a beautiful day of worship, suddenly turned into a terrible tragedy.

According to NBC News, one gunman stepped inside the church and opened fire. Currently, the situation is still under investigation and authorities are awaiting key details, such as the shooter’s motive.

At least 25 people have now been confirmed dead and multiple injured, reported the New York Times. The death toll may continue to rise as victims are being treated for their injuries. Fox reported that one of the victims was identified as the pastor’s 14-year-old daughter.

This shooting has been described as “the deadliest church shooting in modern American history.”

As of late Sunday afternoon, the identity of the shooter has not been released to the public. Local authorities have confirmed that the attacker is dead, but it is unknown if he shot himself or was killed by police officers.

People across the nation are taking to social media to express their thoughts and prayers regarding this horrible tragedy, including President Donald Trump. Trump stated, “May God be with the people of Sutherland Springs, Texas.”
