Mandy Harvey is a deaf singer who recently shocked the crowd of America’s Got Talent with an unexpected performance. When she took the stage, the audience held their breath in anticipation.

Harvey said she had been singing since she was four years old. However, when she became sick at 18 years old, she lost all of her hearing due to a connective tissue disorder and the deterioration of her nerves.

It was at that time that Mandy decided to leave music. As the years went on, Mandy learned to use muscle memory and visual queues to learn to sing again.

“After I lost my hearing I gave up, but I want to do more with my life than just give up,” she said.
