John Heard, the actor who portrayed Kevin McCallister's father in the famous Home Alone films, has died at the age of 72. He had passed away in a Palo Alto, California hotel room on Friday, according to TMZ.
He was found dead in a hotel where he was reportedly staying after he had back surgery. The Santa Clara Medical Examiner’s office confirmed his death, Variety reported.
Heard has been in many films, he's best known for playing Macaulay Culkin's character's Dad in the first two Home Alone movies. Heard's Home Alone co-star Daniel Stern took to social media soon after news broke about Heard’s Death to pay tribute to his friend.
Daniel Stern and Heard knew each other for quite some time. These former co-stars' friendship first started in the '70s. In the tribute on twitter, Stern said he felt like he was Heard's "kid brother" and that the actor "was the coolest cat in New York City for about about a straight decade, 1974-1984."
He wrote, "When I got my first film movie, Breaking Away, the only thing I really knew about film acting was what I had learned from watching John do it."
Heard's cause of his death is under investigation. An autopsy was performed on Saturday and tests will later be conducted, they do not consider the cause suspicious at this time, according to People.
Praying for his family and friends!
