Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz fired back at transgender advocate Caitlyn Jenner — formerly named Bruce — after Jenner mocked him last week for his views on men not being allowed into women's restrooms.
According to CNN, Jenner publicly criticized Cruz after he/she used the women's bathroom at Trump Tower after Republican candidate Donald Trump invited her/him to.
During a CNN interview, Cruz shot back, saying, "This is not a matter of right or left, or Democrat or Republican. This is common sense. It doesn't make sense for grown adult men, strangers, to be alone in a restroom with a little girl. I've spent a lot of years in law enforcement dealing with child predators that are sick individuals. That doesn't mean that that is the people who are transgendered. But there are predators in the world, and just saying that you're a man, you can go in the girls' restroom if you feel like it, opens the door for criminals."
He also criticized Trump by saying, "This is the height of political correctness for Donald Trump to say yes, let grown men in the bathroom with little girls."
According to the Washington Times, Trump recently denounced North Carolina's bathroom bill that states people must use pubic restrooms that match their biological sex, saying the state should have left things the way they already were.
A few days later, according to CBS News, Trump amended his comments by adding that he understood why North Carolina passed the bill.
