One of the biggest names in county music has a lot to celebrate after walking away with a coveted title from one of the biggest award shows of the year. The Country Music Association Awards show presented the Entertainer of the Year to Garth Brooks!
Brooks won the award for the second consecutive year, and sixth time overall. The popular singer is most well known in the world of country music for songs like “Friends in Low Places” and “Thunder Rolls.”
“Getting this presented to me by the entertainer of a lifetime, I thank you,” Garth said, nodding at McEntire. “Miranda [Lambert] said it best, Little Big Town said it best — we’re a family. All you guys down here on the front row: We can all agree on one thing. Let’s all raise a toast. … to the band and crew. I was talking to Kelsea [Ballerini] backstage about how we get to do this for a living. … The most important thing other than God…is you [fans]. …I love you guys. We’re a family," Brooks said in his acceptance speech Wednesday night.
Fans were happy to see Brooks acknowledge his longtime wife during his acceptance speech. Brooks and fellow country music singer Trisha Yearwood, have been married for 12 years.
“Ms. Yearwood, I am yours forever,” he said.
Garth’s award comes as a much-deserved piece of recognition for an amazing year. He has been on tour with his wife since 2014. They will be ending their tour this December, in Nashville, after three years of touring. The couple will have performed 383 shows by the time its all over!
