The hospital stated that Scalise underwent another surgery, remaining in serious condition. However, he is improving and becoming more responsive.
The Washington Examiner has identified the other two people injured as congressional aide Zack Barth and lobbyist Matt Mika. Their conditions and the conditions of the two police officers who were shot have been released.
On Facebook Barth said he was in the hospital but OK, according to NBC News. Mika, meanwhile, is still in critical condition, according to USA Today. He was reportedly shot multiple times and has undergone surgery after suffering massive trauma.
Both of the Capitol Hill police officers shot are both in good condition, according to the New York Post. They have been hailed as heroes for ending what could have been a full-fledged massacre.
“All over the country we have people praying for Steve, for Steve’s wife and kids, for the others injured and for the doctors and nurses caring for our friends,” fellow baseball player Rep. Roger Marshall (R-Kans.) said.
