Yelp, publisher of crowd-sourced reviews for local businesses, has jumped on the wagon to support transgenders.
The company made a statement on Friday mentioning their new development feature: a search option for “Gender Neutral Restrooms”.
The feature has already been implemented and will be updated with additional options in just a few weeks.
"The hope is that this feature gets business owners thinking about how they're presenting themselves — who they're supporting and why. Maybe it will start some conversations," said Rachel Williams, head of diversity at Yelp.
On Thursday, Yelp was also one of 53 companies who joined the “friend of the court” brief to support a transgender student, Gavin Grimm, in being able to use the boy’s restroom.
"At Yelp we thrive on inclusion and acceptance, and we hope that our support for Gavin’s case and the addition of this new business attribute will help our friends in the LGBTQQIA community.," the statement noted.
