College Offers New Course That Would Make Michelle Obama FURIOUS
You can take a college course in just about anything these days. That's apparent with the University of Maryland's new "Fat Studies" course.
But instead of studying the effects of Big Macs or Double Gulps on fat gain, students will instead engage fatness, as the syllabus reads, as “an aspect of human diversity, experience, and identity.”
In other words, the class will be introduced to “a field that is not concerned with the eradication of fatness, but with offering a sustained critique of anti-fat sentiment, discrimination, and policy.”
Students will get to learn trendy new terms like "Fat Studies, "fat activists," and "Fat Liberation Manifesto," which all things that apparently exist now.
Among the many pieces of online literature the students will be required to read about fatness are the works of the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance site, whose purpose is to “provide fat people with the tools for self-empowerment through public education, advocacy, and support.”
Does Michelle Obama know anything about this?
