On Monday, October 23rd, CNN released a controversial ad that seems to target President Donald Trump, specifically his consistent remarks that CNN is “fake news.” The point of the advertisement is to tell the public that CNN focuses on “facts first.”

In the 30-second video ad, an apple is shown on the screen with an all-white background. It begins, “This is an apple.”

“Some people might try to tell you that it’s a banana. They might scream banana, banana, banana over and over and over again They might put BANANA in all caps,” the ad reads, appearing to take a shot at Trump’s tweeting and other forms of communication to the American people.

It continued, “You might even start to believe that this is a banana. But it’s not. This is an apple.”

The video ends with “Facts First” shown in large letters followed by the CNN logo.

Other news sources including The Hill and Business Insider confirmed CNN’s “subtle” response to the president by mocking him in the new advertisement. The Hill reported, “CNN appears to be taking a swipe at President Trump’s attacks on the media with a new ad promoting ‘facts first’.”
