It is often the case that progressives will denounce their political enemies as “racists,” regardless of whether there is reasonable cause to call their enemies by such names. And especially after the 2016 election, there has been widespread refusal to accept that Hillary Clinton – through her own fault – lost the presidential election. Consequently, CNN host Fareed Zakaria believes that Trump exploited racism, particularly racism aimed at Barack Obama, to stir up rage among Republican voters.
The Daily Caller reports that Zakaria, a host on CNN, appeared on “New Day” Monday to provide analysis of Trump’s presidential victory. Zakaria attributed the election of Donald Trump to “class rebellion against people like us.”
“Old white non-college educated Americans staged a class rebellion against people like us,” said Zakaria according to Daily Caller. “Educated professionals who live in cities, who have cosmopolitan views about a lot of things.”
Zakaria said that Trump used public anger against politicians and “toxic energy on the far right” to demagogue his way into the White House.
“He knew that the election of a black president had stripped a king of ugly racial animus among some people,” said Kazaria according to the Daily Caller. “But he knew a way to get directly to them.”
Comments like this bring to mind those made by Hillary Clinton immediately before the election, particularly the comment that Trump supporters are “deplorables.”
If you are a Trump supporter, do you consider yourself “toxic energy?” What do you think of this election analysis recently found on CNN?
