Jordin Sparks, a famous singer who rose to popularity after “American Idol” and is well-known for her outspoken Christian faith, announced a heartbreaking family tragedy this week.
Sparks’ younger step-sister, Bryanna, tragically passed away on Tuesday night at only 16 years old. According to PEOPLE, Bryanna suffered a lifelong battle with sickle cell anemia—a rare disease that causes red blood cells to break down.
The sad announcement was made by the family via Facebook:
“Bry went peacefully to Heaven. I can’t help to think [that] she’s smiling just like this. Thank you all for your prayers.”
PEOPLE also reported that on Tuesday, Sparks asked for prayers for her little sister. Prior to her death, Bryanna was admitted to the ICU because of health complications.
This tragic news comes shortly after the Christian singer opened up about her secret wedding with rising model Dana Isaiah and their exciting baby news. The newlyweds are expecting their first child together later this year.
Please pray for Jordin Sparks’ family during this difficult time. In other breaking news, a baseball legend from the New York Yankees also passed away recently.
