Chelsea Clinton recently entered the controversy surrounding Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.
According to Fox News, Chelsea Clinton would not reveal what the Clinton Foundation would do with its donations from Weinstein, who was also a major Democratic donor who funneled ample amounts of money to her family foundation.
On Saturday, Clinton avoided talking about the subject to the Daily Mail while she was in Boston. When asked, she would not reveal what the Clinton Foundation would do with their donations from Weinstein. Rather than answering the reporter's questions, which took place outside of a Clinton Global Initiative University event at Northeastern University, she walked to her car and refused to comment.
"Chelsea Clinton fled to her car to avoid answering questions from a DailyMail.com reporter on Saturday about whether the Clinton Foundation will return up to $250,000 in donations from accused rapist Harvey Weinstein," reads the report.
According to Fox News, Weinstein may have donated up to $250,000. The alleged abuser also donated roughly $46,000 to the Clinton campaign and to a Democratic Party super PAC during the 2016 election.
Then, after she walked to her car and refused to comment, the Daily Mail was blocked from asking former President Bill Clinton about Weinstein's donations the previous evening. Bill Clinton is currently the board of directors of the foundation's board of directors, while Chelsea Clinton is the vice chair.
It took a total of five days for Hillary Clinton to respond to the story published by the New York Times about her close friend, Harvey Weinstein, who has a long history as a sexual predator.
Over the past several years, Weinstein has donated ample sums of money to both Obama and Clinton and even hosted fundraisers for them at his private homes.
Finally, on Monday afternoon, Clinton retweeted a statement about Weinstein. The short statement said that she was appalled, but it did not go into detail about what she would do with the money Weinstein had donated to her campaign and to the Clinton Foundation.
"Hillary Clinton said earlier this week she would return Weinstein’s donations to her 2016 campaign. The disgraced movie producer gave over $30,000 to the Hillary Victory Fund and $5,400 to Hillary for America," writes the Daily Report. "But the Clinton Foundation has declined to comment on whether it will return Weinstein’s donations. Weinstein has given between $100,000 and $250,000 to the foundation, according to its records."
