The chaos in the Democratic Party is intensifying today as President Obama broke with others in his party calling for FBI Director James Comey to resign following his reopening of the criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton's e-mail scandal.
According to Newsmax, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid accused Comey of breaking the law for reopening the investigation just 11 days before the Nov. 8 election. He accused Comey of using his position for political means. South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy called the accusation "laughable."
Reid's voice was joined by numerous other Democrats calling for Comey to step down and/or condemning his actions as unethical.
But CNN has just reported that President Obama himself doesn't believe Comey is unfairly trying to influence voters against Hillary.
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Monday, "The President doesn't believe that [Comey's] secretly strategizing to benefit one candidate or one political party."
Earnest called Comey a man of "integrity and good character" and said, "The president thinks very highly of Director Comey. And yes, you can assert that he still has confidence in his ability to do his job."
