Air travel tensions are at the highest they’ve been in a long time.
That was evident at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Monday evening after chaos erupted following the announcement of multiple flight cancellations.
According to Fox News, the cancellations came after contract negotiations broke down between Spirit Airlines and its pilots.
The company claims some of its pilots refused to work.
After ten Spirit flights were abruptly cancelled, passenger Paul Smith described what then happened.
He said, “All of a sudden, one particular flight got canceled, and a mob ensued up here at the front counter, in front of everyone else who had been waiting in line.”
According to CNN, passenger Cindy Matthews Beard said, "Everyone was already aggravated about flight delays and the ridiculousness of standing in such a long line for hours, which Spirit Airlines did nothing to help, and then in walks these people off their flight raising a ruckus (and) cussing and screaming and they went straight to the counter."
That’s when tempers really began to flare.
