Recently, burglars have started to target celebrity mansions in plots to steal money and merchandise. Now, burglars have struck another famous home.
Venus Williams was burglarized sometime between September 1st and September 5th while she was away at the U.S. Open. It made her a big target since the thieves potentially knew she would not be home.
“The burglary happened between Sept. 1st and 5th at Williams’ 10,000-square-foot (1,000-square-meter) home, which is in a well-to-do gated community, Palm Beach Gardens police said in a statement. Police blacked out from their report what was stolen. No arrests have been made,” according to CBS.
However, reports are now saying that the thieves made off with over $400,000 in designer purses. Detectives are currently working the case and hoping to find the culprits.
Venus is having one of her best tennis seasons in recent memory. She finished second at both Wimbledon and the Australian Open and reached the semi-finals at the U.S. Open. She has not publicly commented on the purse theft at this time.
