Candace Cameron Bure, American actress best-known for her ‘Full House’ and ‘Fuller House’ role as DJ Tanner, appeared on a radio show Thursday morning. On Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, the actress shared the reason for her success in Hollywood.
Bure is very well-known for her strong, Christian faith and despite the fact that she’s consistently criticized for her openness, she continues to give all of the glory to God. On the show, Bure stated:
“My Christian faith has always been a huge part of my life and I love to be able to share it and when you work in the entertainment industry, a lot of people tell you to keep that part of your life to yourself because obviously, entertainment tends to be more liberal.”
She continues, “But I think, for the very fact that I haven’t shied away from it, and I’m passionate about it and it is who I am, it’s the foundation and core of who I am, I think it’s kind of the very reason why I’ve been able to do as many of the projects and things that I’ve wanted to do, because I haven’t been shy...My family is a huge component of that, as well.”
The talk show host pointed out that even though she has faced criticism for her faith throughout the years, Bure has always expressed her beliefs in an ‘elegant’ way and ‘kills with kindness’; she is never ‘hostile’.
She responded, “Yes, it’s true, and thank you! I don’t ever think you win anyone ever by yelling at them or making them want to hide or run away from you. I think kindness will always win at the end of the day. What I’ve always tried to do in my career is stay true to myself and be who I am and not be ashamed of any part of that, but be respectful and to listen with honesty and openness to others as well, who have different opinions and respect that we don’t always have to agree, but we can still be friendly and friends.”
She also discussed some behind-the-scenes details of the new series, ‘Fuller House’. Bure mentioned that working with the original ‘Full House’ cast is by far her favorite job and even since the original series ended, the cast always maintained their close relationship.
Bure ends her interview with a piece of advice for moms and women in general: "Remember to not compare yourself to other families and other moms. All of our lives look different...we all need to give ourselves a break and give ourselves grace in that area...as long as we're doing the best that we're doing for ourselves and for our family, then that's all you need to do and should be proud of that."
