Can An Atheist Be Fit To Be A President? Cruz Weighs In

On Friday Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz was asked a question by pastor Kevin Swanson during an appearance at the National Religious Liberties Conference in Iowa.

Swanson, who has gained national attention by vocalizing his beliefs, asked the Texas senator, "How important is it for the president of the United States to fear God, and what does that mean to you?"

Without hesitation, Cruz responded, "Any president who doesn’t begin every day on his knees isn’t fit to be commander-in-chief of this country."

The comment was met by applause by the crowd but was shared by Right Wing Watch, which used the video to criticized evangelical Christians.
