On his website Wednesday, New Jersey musician Bruce Springsteen announced “Springsteen on Broadway,” a series of solo shows at the Walter Kerr Theatre in New York. The shows will explore the rocker’s life through his words and music.
The Los Angeles Times reports that in a statement Springsteen remarked, “I wanted to do some shows that were as personal and as intimate as possible. I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theaters which seemed like the right setting for what I have in mind.”
The show will apparently present Springsteen alone with only a piano and guitar, which he will use to perform his songs and read passages from his 2016 memoir “Born to Run.”
The singing and reading together “is in pursuit of my constant goal to provide an entertaining evening and to communicate something of value,” remarks the musician.
The performances will begin October 3 with an official opening on October 12. There will be five shows a week through November 26. Tickets go on sale August 30 at 7a.m. PDT through Ticketmaster Verified Fan.
