Weddings are almost guaranteed to make you feel all types of emotions, especially when the bride and groom exchange vows. At a recent ceremony where Marine Joshua Newville was ecstatic to marry his bride Emily Leehan, emotions quickly flooded the room when she said her vows to another “man” at their wedding: her soon-to-be husband’s 4-year-old son named Gage.
Leehan begins, “I want you to be safe and try your hardest and to be a good person.” She stops as her stepson starts to cry and immediately falls into her arms.
“I know that you and I will butt heads, but I hope that with all my heart that as you become a grown man, you will understand my methods and realize that I’ve only done what is best for you and I love you.”
As she continues her speech, the young boy turns and sobs into his dad’s arms. She ends with, “The last thing that I hope you learn is that you are a very special boy."
“You are so extremely smart, handsome, and kind to others. You have helped make me into the woman that I am today, and I may not have given you the gift of life, but life surely gave me the gift of you.”
The family is reportedly from Ripley, New York. Newville is a Sergeant and Leehan is a Senior Airman. Both are still on active military duty, according to ABC11. Watch the bride share her vows to her stepson in the Fox News clip below. If you love this story, share it on your Facebook page.
