Back in February, New Jersey governor Chris Christie endorsed Donald Trump for president. Now it appears that that support has earned him a big new role in a possible Trump administration.
According to NBC News, Trump has tapped his big supporter to lead his transition team. In other words, Christie will direct the effort to fill Trump's top cabinet positions along with around a thousand executive branch jobs. Those hires will still require Senate approval.
Sources says Christie's appointment is expected to bring seriousness and discipline to a possible Trump presidency and could improve Trump's relationship with the Republican establishment.
