According to multiple reports, ironic singer Prince has died at the age of 57. Hollywood Reporter says that police are investigating after the music legend was found dead in his recording studio in Minnesota early today.
Born Prince Rogers Nelson in Minneapolis, he made breakthroughs in the music world with his trademark sound, wide vocal range, flamboyant performances, and controversial lyrics. Having won numerous Grammy Awards and sold more than 100 million albums, he is regarded as one of the best-selling musicians of all time. He was known for hits like "Let's Go Crazy," "When Doves Cry," "Kiss," and "Purple Rain."
While authorities themselves have not officially confirmed that the body they found in Prince's studio was that of the music artist, Prince had been suffering from a serious bout of the flu.
His death has elicited reactions worldwide, including from Kiss frontman Gene Simmons who wrote on Twitter, "PRINCE, sad to say, has passed on!!! He was a Giant. My deep condolences go out to his family, friends and fans."
Prince was reportedly a Jehovah's Witness.
