Giving is one of the most special ways to get into the holiday spirit during the Christmas season, following the example of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He laid down his life for us, so we ought to lay down our life for others (1 John 3:16).
Brandon Carr, cornerback for the Baltimore Ravens, did just that this Christmas.
The NFL star provided Christmas meals for 150 families in need through his Carr Cares Foundation, according to MLive. Meals were distributed to families in Flint, Minnesota—Carr’s hometown.
Carr stated, "Christmas is a special time of year. It's a time for families to spend together without thinking of the burdens of everyday life. I hope this meal provides families the opportunity to relax and enjoy the holiday season."
Additionally, Carr hosted 60 children for the annual Holiday Helpers event at a local Target, where he and several of his teammates took kids on a shopping spree. The children selected gifts for themselves and for their family members, friends, or other loved ones.
Carr told the children, “The holiday season is about giving back, loving one another, showing somebody you care for them with a gift, with a small gesture, with a hug, with a message...The holiday season is about giving.”

2 Corinthians 9:7
"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
In other sports news, another famous athlete had a spirit of generosity this holiday season; he gave away a $10 million home to a Christian camp for disabled children.
