An 11-year-old boy was caught on camera Friday mowing the White House Lawn. While such an action would typically result in immediate questioning by the U.S. Secret Service, his unusual lawn mowing job was approved ahead of time, and how it came about and what happened afterward is incredible.
Frank Giaccio wanted to prove to President Trump, and the nation, that some in his young generation are willing to work hard and take on responsibilities. The boy, who actually runs his own lawn mowing business, wrote a letter to the president a little while back, according to the Tribunist.
“Dear Mr. President. It would be my honor to mow the White House lawn for some weekend for you. Even though I’m only 10, I’d like to show the nation what young people like me are ready for,” Frank wrote. “I admire your business background and have started my own business. I have been mowing my neighbors’ lawns for some time — please see the attached flier.”
He added, “Here’s a list of what I have, and you’re free to pick whatever you want: power mower, push mower, and weed whacker. I can bring extra fuel for the power mower and charged batteries for the weed whacker. Sincerely, Frank.”
Incredibly, the boy who lives in nearby Falls Church, Virginia, got his wish. After White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders officially announced that Frank would be mowing one of the most seen lawns in the world, the young entrepreneur got to work.
Huckabee Sanders tweeted a photo of his progress Friday morning:
President Trump even came out to greet the boy working on the biggest lawn mowing job of his young life and to tell him he was doing a “great job!”
“So far it’s pretty much the best day of my life,” Frank told Fox News earlier in the day, and it got even better when Frank and his dad were invited into the Oval Office.
At his dad’s advice, Frank waived his normal fee of $8.00 per lawn, but the publicity photos he got for his business will be absolute gold for future clients.
When the president came out of the White House to talk to him, Frank — who wants to be a Navy SEAL when he grows up — was so intent on pushing the heavy National Park Service lawn mower that he barely even paused to shake hands with the president until his dad pulled him aside so they could all talk to the watching crowd.
