On Wednesday, Gallup released their annual "Most Admired Men and Women" list. Each year, they create a survey asking, "What man/woman that you have heard or read about, living today in any part of the world, do you admire most? And who is your second choice?"
After thousands of participants complete the study, Gallup releases the results. Typically, the "Most Admired Man of the Year" goes to the current president, though that is not always the case. This year, former President Barack Obama beat out President Trump by a mere 3%.
What is more important than the top spot this year, however, is who placed fourth on the list. This year, 99-year-old Billy Graham came in fourth.
This is a significant honor not only because Graham appeared on the list, but because he is on the list for record 61st time. Graham has been honored on the list every year since 1963, excluding 1976 when they did not conduct the survey. He also was on the list between 1955-1961.
It is no surprise that Billy Graham received this honor for the 61st time, as he has been extremely influential in the shaping of culture. He founded the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in 1950 and his life of ministry has drastically affected millions of lives.
Graham has preached to more people in live audiences than any other person throughout history. He has preached in the biggest cities and the smallest villages, to the rich and to the poor. He also has written 33 books and is known as the "pastor to the presidents."
The only person that comes close to Graham's numbers on the list is Queen Elizabeth II. The royal has been on the list 49 times. According to the Billy Graham website, the two have been friends for many years.
While Graham's accomplishments have been impressive, he is admired for his consistent faith.
He said, "Our job in life is not to be successful, but to be faithful."
