Are you a travel enthusiast? Do you love good deals? If so, you might be a victim of this recent viral Facebook scam.

Have you seen a post from Southwest Airlines offering 2 free tickets to anyone who is willing to fill out a survey online? The post says that Southwest is celebrating its 88th Anniversary and wants to celebrate with its customers.

However, officials have confirmed that this “deal” is actually a scam. It is a lure to get your personal information so that they can send you marketing campaigns and spam your email inbox.

Here is one example of what the post could actually look like on your screen.

ABC Action News gave a few indicators as to why this is a scam. The first is that the scam says Southwest is celebrating its 88th Anniversary. However, the company was founded in 1967, making it only 50-years-old. Additionally, the “W” in Southwest was capitalized on the post, which is not the official company spelling.

One way to tell that something is a scam is when the post will show the website URL in light gray text under the title that is different than the official company website. Action News said, “Moral of the story, if it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is.”
