During a 15-minute interview on conservative radio talk show "Kelley and Kafer," Ben Carson said little in support of Donald Trump's policies but repeatedly gave one big reason why he will vote for him: To beat Hillary so she won't destroy America.
Carson said his choice of Trump was "pragmatic" because he felt John Kasich didn't have a chance of beating Hillary and Ted Cruz was going to have too difficult of a time wooing enough moderates and Democrats to win.
He made that pragmatism clear, suggesting he'd be fine not voting for Trump, when he said, “For me it’s about the children and the grandchildren. If it were just me, I would be completely where Krista is [against Trump]… but for them, I can’t.”
But he explained why it's so important to vote for Trump, saying, "The legacy of a Hillary who gets two to four Supreme Court picks will be there for generations and perhaps forever. You've got to be able to look at the big picture."
Asked if he had concerns with Trump's personality and character, Carson replied, "I believe that God and the Holy Spirit can change anybody. Who among us isn't a [bad person]?"
But Carson made it clear he will support anyone who becomes the Republican nominee, even if it's Cruz instead of Trump or someone else.
He said, "I would not support anybody who is running Third Party, because that would guarantee a win for the Democrats. A win for the Democrats is just going to be devastating. We will lose the country that we know and love. We will lose all our rights. Religious freedom will be out the window. You might as well start looking for another place to live."
Do you agree with his argument here?
