In the midst of Hollywood's latest sex scandal with producer Harvey Weinstein, actor Ben Affleck came under fire when one actress claimed “he groped her” on MTV’s show "TRL" when she was “just a kid.” Affleck has been seen in a number of popular movies since the 1990s including “Jersey Girl,” “Good Will Hunting,” “Gone Girl,” “Argo,” and several others.
Hilarie Burton brought this 2003 incident back into the light when responding to a Twitter comment on Tuesday, reported E! News. Burton was a former host on "TRL," played a star role in the series “One Tree Hill,” and has also had many movie appearances including in “The Secret Life of Bees.”
This news came shortly after Affleck posted a statement, condemning the scandal with Weinstein. He referred to Weinstein’s actions as “completely unacceptable” and also called on the public to take more action in “protecting our sisters, friends, co-workers and daughters.”
Affleck responded to Burton’s claim on Wednesday. He tweeted an apology, acknowledging that his actions were inappropriate and is “sincerely” sorry.
According to Fox News, Affleck has previously worked with Burton’s husband, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, in one of the Batman movies. In “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” Morgan played Batman’s father.
