Over the last several months, rumors have been swirling about where the second headquarters for Amazon will be. The current headquarters is in Seattle, Washington, and CEO Jeff Bezos said that it is outgrowing its home. Hundreds of cities were vying for the opportunity to grow their economy by adding the 50,000 high-paying jobs that Amazon was promising.

Now, the e-commerce company has narrowed down their search from 238 proposals to 20. According to CNBC, the proposals included several tax incentives, detailed information about the area, traffic and crime stats, recreational opportunities, offers specifically for the world's richest man Jeff Bezos, and other unique qualifications.

Holly Sullivan, an Amazon Public Policy executive, said, "Getting from 238 to 20 was very tough- all the proposals showed tremendous enthusiasm and creativity. Through this process, we learned about many new communities across North America that we will consider as locations for future infrastructure investment and job creation."

Below are the top 20 candidates for the new Amazon headquarters:

Atlanta

Austin, TX

Boston

Chicago

Columbus, Ohio

Dallas

Denver

Indianapolis

Los Angeles

Miami

Montgomery County, MD

Nashville

Newark

New York

Northern Virginia

Philadelphia

Pittsburgh

Raleigh, NC

Toronto

Washington, D.C.

According to the NY Times, Amazon representatives will now work with each of the candidates in a more personalized way in order to determine which community would be the best for the new headquarters, coined as HQ2."
