While Trump defeated Cruz in Arizona on Tuesday, Cruz picked up a huge victory in Utah with 69% of the vote.
The resounding victory has led some former presidential candidates to line up behind the conservative Texas senator. Jeb Bush announced that he was supporting Cruz. A short while later, Wisconsin governor Scott Walker also announced his endorsement of Cruz.
The endorsements from the establishment Republicans come as a shocking development because Cruz has repeatedly admonished the Republican establishment for being too progressive and siding with Democrats on certain issues. According to the Wisconsin State Journal, Walker’s endorsement isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement.
“If you’re someone who is uneasy with the front-runner right now, there’s really only one candidate,” Walker said. “Ted Cruz is the only one who’s got a chance other than Donald Trump to win the nomination statistically, and my friend Kasich cannot.”
Despite the hesitant endorsement, more and more people are coming to terms with the fact that it will either be Trump or Cruz as the nominee and those who are opposed to Trump are willing to back Cruz despite him not budging from his anti-establishment positions.
