News just broke that actress Darlanne Fluegel has passed away in her Orlando home. The actress was 64 years old at the time of her death and had a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Fluegel was a popular actress in the 1980s and starred in several TV shows and movies. Her most prominent roles were in "Once Upon a Time in America," "Tough Guys," "To Live and Die in L.A.," and "Running Scared."
One of Fluegel's claims to fame was the fact that she co-starred next to some Hollywood favorites. In Sergio Leone's 1984 "Once Upon a Time in America," Fluegel was Robert De Niro's girlfriend. In 1986, the actress paired with Kirk Douglas in "Tough Guys."
Fluegel's career in the entertainment industry reportedly began when she was 18 years old and moved to New York City. Shortly after her move, she was hired as a model by Eileen Ford.
The model switched primarily to acting in 1978 with her debut role in "Eyes of Laura Mars." After many years of successful acting, Fluegel started an acting school and served as a professor at the University of Central Florida.
At the age of 56, the actress was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease. On December 15, she passed away in her Orlando home. She is survived by her one son, Coulter.
Please be praying for Fluegel's son, family, and friends during this time. Share your prayers here! In other sad news, the young Star Trek actor just passed away at only 33 years old.
