One of the biggest name in Hollywood has just opened up about a very sad disorder she has just been diagnosed with. Melanie Griffith revealed she has been battling epilepsy since she was diagnosed a few years ago.

The news was a major revelation since she has not publicly discussed the diagnosis. She also explained that she had been battling seizures for quite a while before doctors were able to properly determine what was going wrong with her.

"They didn't know what it was," she said. "The last two that I had I was on a boat outside of Cannes — on a big yacht — and I was extremely stressed out. Every seizure that I had was at a point when I was extremely stressed."

Griffith also opened up about the incident on the yacht when she had a massive seizure and was rushed to the hospital. It is unclear if she was with her husband while on the boat.

"I had this major grand mal seizure, and they took me to the hospital in Cannes and then brought me back to the boat," she recalled. "And then I had another seizure and I went back. They did the EEG and started to look at it seriously. When I came back (to the United States), I was diagnosed with epilepsy and nobody had said to me over a period of 20 years, no one paid enough attention to even diagnose me."

Many times, Griffith mentions she was very stressed when the seizure occurred. She also revealed that three years ago, after divorcing from Antonio Banderas, her stress levels went down.

"I got divorced, which is the real healer for me," she said.
