Actress Confronts Ted Cruz Over LGBT Rights; Gets Grilled On Religious Liberty

We all know how incredibly politically incorrect it is right now to stand for Christians' rights to practice their faith when it opposes the LGBT community.

But Senator Ted Cruz doesn't care.  He believes that marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman.

While grilling pork chops last week at the Iowa State Fair, actress Ellen Page, going incognito in a baseball hat and sunglasses, confronted Cruz in front of TV cameras and asked him about "the persecution of gays in the workplace and LGBT rights."

ABC News caught the moment on camera.

"What about the question about LGBT people being fired for being gay-trans?" Page asked.

"Well, what we’re seeing right now, we’re seeing Bible-believing Christians being persecuted for living according to their faith," Cruz replied.

Cruz continued, "No one has the right to force someone else to abandon their faith and their conscience.  Imagine, hypothetically, you had a gay florist and imagine two evangelicals wanted to get married and they decide, ‘You know what, I disagree with your faith and I don’t want to provide flowers."

Senator Cruz is saying exactly what many American citizens are feeling: that it's unfair that the LGBT community would have free reign with their beliefs but that Christians would be penalized for living out their own.

ABC News reported that Cruz planned to hold a rally in Des Moines to call “attention to the religious persecution of Christian business owners and employees who have been sanctioned by their government because of their religious beliefs."

What do you think of Cruz's response?  Do you agree with him?  Let us know your thoughts!
