Kim Kardashian and Kanye West just had their third child via surrogate, TMZ confirmed.
Kim made the announcement herself. She revealed that the surrogate gave birth Monday to a healthy baby girl who weighed 7lbs, 6oz.
“Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl,” wrote Kardashian West in a post titled “She’s Here!”
“We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care.”
Kim and Kanye used a surrogate because she has placenta accreta, which is a life-threatening condition that created serious complications during the birth of her second child, Saint.
A few months ago, Kim and Kanye, who are also parents to 4-year-old North West and a 1-year-old Saint West, opened up about the struggles of having a child via surrogate.
She said, “You know, it is really different. Anyone that says or thinks it is just the easy way out is just completely wrong. I think it is so much harder to go through it this way, because you are not really in control.”
Kim also opened up about the gender of her baby—although this was an accident. While being interviewed on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” the 37-year-old accidentally revealed she'd be having another little girl.
While talking about 4-year-old North's reaction to having another sibling Kim said, “My daughter thinks she’s really tricky. We had a baby shower over the weekend, and I thought, ‘You know, I really do want to have a baby shower because I want her to feel that something’s coming and for her to really understand it.’ So people brought toys and gifts and she was opening them all up the next day. She said, ‘Mom, since baby sister’s not here, I think I need all of the toys in my room and I’ll play with them and just make sure they’re all OK for baby sister.'”
Congratulations to Kim, Kanye, and the rest of their family!
