We may be nation with an increasing number of atheists, agnostics, and people with little foundation for their faith, but there is one thing that drives nine out of 10 Americans to cry out to God for help.
According to Christianity Today, Americans at some point in their life are almost guaranteed to pray to God for healing — healing for themselves and healing for others.
Despite advances in medical care that almost seem miraculous, Americans still in large feel the need for help from a higher power. But why do people pray for health more than extra money, better relationships, or help with major life decisions?
Perhaps it's because people have witnessed others survive sickness and injuries that doctors were at a loss to heal. Or because life and death seem ultimately out of our control and the control of doctors.
