94-year-old Keith Davison is making news headlines after building a pool in his backyard. His reason behind the new backyard addition will melt your heart.
Davison and his wife Evy had been married four days short of 66 years when she passed away last April. After Evy's passing, Davison became extremely lonely and couldn't handle the silent reminder that the love of his life was gone.
“You cry a lot,” Davison said in an interview with his local news station. “That’s just the way it is, because she’s not here.”
Davison, who is a retired judge from Morris, Minnesota, decided it was time to do something about the loneliness. He decided to build a 32-foot pool in his backyard for all the neighborhood kids to use.
The pool, which is complete with a diving board, is open to all the children in the neighborhood. Davison's only requirement is that a child has either a parent or grandparents watching them. He has also said he enjoys getting in the pool himself once all the kids leave at the end of the day.
While Davison has no grandchildren of his own, he has now become like a surrogate grandfather to all the kids coming to enjoy his pool. The pool has been a blessing for both the community members and for Davison as well.
