December is often filled with mall shopping, gift wrapping, and dozens of holiday parties. Through the hustle and bustle of it all, it can be easy to lose sight of the true meaning of Christmas: the immense love of God and the gift of Jesus.

Below are some of the best scriptures to remind yourself of during this busy holiday season. Many of these scriptures are considered some of the best to feature on a family Christmas card. Whether you do that, make an effort to memorize one each day leading up to Christmas, or share with a friend, these scriptures are a good reminder for anyone.

Matthew 1:23

"Behold, the virgin shall be with child and give birth to a Son, and they shall call his name Immanuel" which, when translated, means, "God with us" (AMP).

Luke 2:13-15

"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased'" (ESV).

Titus 3:4-7

"But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life" (NIV).

James 1:17

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change" (ESV).

Romans 15:13

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope" (ESV).

Isaiah 9:6

"For to us a child is born, to us, a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace" (ESV).

Philippians 2:8-10

"And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death- even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth" (NIV).

Romans 6:23

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (ESV).
