3 Promises From Psalms For When You Feel Hopeless
When your soul faces a dark night, or when everything begins to slide off the rails, you can't afford to let go of hope. Here are three promises found in the Psalms.
Psalm 126:5 ESV
Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy!
Sorrow is a natural course of life in our broken world. Turning toward God in the middle of it will lead to comfort, maturity, and a beautiful story of redemption.
Psalm 13: verses 2,5, and 6
2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul,
Having sorrow in my heart daily?
How long will my enemy be exalted over me?
5 But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
6 I will sing to the Lord, Because He has dealt bountifully with me.
Life is hard enough. Do you think of yourself as a victim in your self-talk or when you describe your situation to others? Instead, count your blessings. Turn to scripture and consider the truth of God's love and goodness toward you. It's important to be honest with how you feel with God and with others, but don't neglect the work of comparing the truth about yourself to the things that are just feelings.
I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.
If you need hope today, I pray you'd be given a new song of trust in God's goodness today. Be moved from a murky, uncertain place to a clear and stable way forward.
