Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe (D) has set his sights on guns through a series of executive anti-gun actions. In October, McAuliffe banned the open carry of firearms in state buildings. According to Breitbart, McAuliffe has also made strong pushes for more background checks and gun controls.
McAuliffe’s attacks on the 2nd amendment have not gone unnoticed by State Senator Bill Carrico (R). Carrico decided that since McAuliffe despises guns so much and people’s rights to own them, then McAuliffe surely can do without his own security detail. “If he’s so afraid of guns, then I’m not going to surround him with armed state policemen,” Carrico said.
Caricco introduced an amendment to the state budget that calls for the removal of funding for the Governor’s security. “I have a budget amendment that I’m looking at to take away his executive protection unit,” Carrico said.
