Tragedy: 2 Police Officers Shot and Killed After Responding to 911 Call

A terrible tragedy has taken place in Westerville, Ohio. On Saturday, February 10th, two police officers were shot and killed on duty while responding to a 911 hangup call.

According to the New York Times, the two officers arrived at an apartment building where authorities suspected a domestic violence situation. They went inside the apartment to check in, but were hit with gunshots immediately.

One officer died on scene. The other died hours later in the hospital.

The two heroes in blue have been identified as 39-year-old Eric Joering and 54-year-old Anthony Morelli. Joering was a 16-year veteran of the department and Morelli was a 29-year veteran, stated The Times.

Both officers will be missed by their beloved wife and children.

President Donald Trump expressed his condolences to the family via Twitter.

The suspect, 30-year-old Quentin Lamar Smith, was also shot, but his condition is unclear. The officers reportedly returned fire upon entering the apartment.
