Fox News reports that a 23-year-old marine was murdered in Waikiki on Saturday morning. The death occurred from several stab wounds to his chest after a verbal confrontation became violent.
Sgt. William Brown, a native of Tennessee and beloved member of his unit, was killed after a dispute on Saturday morning. Brown served as an 81 mm mortarman, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines, based on Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe.
"Sergeant Brown was a beloved member of 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines who had been with the unit for five years," Lt. Col. Steven Eastin said in a statement according to Fox News. "He had qualities we value in our Marine non-commissioned officers. His death is tragic and the battalion joins his family in grief. He will always be loved and remembered.”
Brown's family and friends are very sad about this tragic loss. They describe him as a positive person — as somebody who could always put a smile on somebody's face, and as a young man with an optimistic attitude.
"He always put a smile on everyone's face because he always had a smile on his face," remarked a friend, according to Fox News. "He didn't let anything hold him down or break him down. He would push through."
The Seattle Times reports that Brown was quickly taken to the hospital and put into critical condition after the incident. But unfortunately, he was unable to make it and died quickly after arriving at the hospital.
Honolulu police Capt. Walter Ozeki remarked that multiple people were at the scene and three suspects were arrested. The suspects are a 21-year-old man and two teens ages 14 and 16.
Brown has received multiple awards for his service. These include the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, and two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons.
Please pray for everyone impacted by this tragic death. In breaking news, a Walmart and Trader Joe's Recall is consisting of roughly 150 products across the country.
