Yahoo News reports that a man dressed in a Santa Claus outfit opened fire at a Halloween party. The incident occurred at a Texas home, killing one person and injuring three others.
The party seemed harmless until 32-year-old Randall Gaston Jones became highly intoxicated during a costume party. He was then asked to leave by his roommates. After being asked by his roommates to leave, he did indeed leave, but later returned to the party with a handgun and began firing at party-goers.
Victim Michael McCloskey, 38, tried his best to escape but was shot several times. He was rushed to the hospital where he later died. Two women were also taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. A third victim was treated at the scene. Their injury was not severe enough to warrant a trip to the hospital. One source writes that the fourth victim refused emergency medical services.
Apparently, after the shooting, Jones went to a neighbor's house and told the residents that a fight had broken out at the party. He claimed that he would surrender to authorities. There was no violence or threats of violence seen at the neighbor's house.
After speaking with neighbors, he went back to the house and placed his gun on the welcome mat. He then sat outside and waited to be taken into custody by local police. When the officer arrived, it was very clear that Jones would cooperate. He was taken to jail and charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A murder charge is still pending.
The following video from the Austin Police Department was published immediately following the incident.
