Nebraska is leading the way after filing a lawsuit against the U.S. Justice Department and Education Department over rules they sent states in May about allowing students to choose which bathrooms, locker rooms, and showers they can use based on their self-determined “gender identity” rather than their biological sex.
The rules sparked an outcry in many states, sparking public condemnation of the Obama administration from numerous state leaders and residents.
Now, according to the Associated Press, Wyoming, South Dakota, South Carolina, Ohio, North Dakota, Montana, Michigan, Kansas, and Arkansas have joined Nebraska in formally battling the federal government for what they say is an attack on their own laws and a serious violation of the process for changing laws.
Nebraska Attorney General Doug Peterson expressed that local school districts, not the federal government, should be allowed to handle transgender bathroom choice on a case-by-case basis without fed interference. What do you think about this?
